tradition Gautama Buddha's birth name was Siddhartha Gautama, this was changed
after he went on a quest for the truth behind life and death. After reaching enlightenment
while sitting beneath a tree, Siddhartha Gautama was able to claim the name of
Buddha. Gautama Buddha is the historical founder of Buddhism.
